Hey, is anyone sewing? My quilt top is off to Lisa Johnson, a fabulous long arm quilter. Since I don't have to worry about deadlines, I took off to celebrate my (ahem) 50th birthday in Vegas. Before the trip, the gang here at work helped me celebrate with a ton of food (all old age themed of course), and a beautifully decorated office (50's hanging from the ceiling. They made me wear a boa and some funny glasses. Here are the funny pages Laraine compiled for me. I figured this would entertain you until someone posts an update on their quilt :)

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Happy Birthday, Karen. Hope Vegas was good to you!
How is the quilter going to quilt your quilt? I still haven't decided what to do when I get to that point.
We are going on vacation this week. We are meeting our 3 "kids" and their families in San Antonio for a little getaway. It will be a blast to have all 8 of the grandkids together at the same time. They range in age from 8 down to 1 1/2, so we have a variety of interests there.
I had my second cataract taken out a couple of weeks ago and it is wonderful to see so well. Colors are clear and beautiful. I can even see to thread a needle without glasses and I haven't been able to do that for a very long time. As my doctor said, "Cataract surgery is probably the closest thing to a miracle in modern medicine." All that with absolutely no discomfort at any time. I am sharing all this so that if any of you get the news that you have cataracts, you will know that the surgery is not something to dread. Now I am ready to finish putting the borders on my quilt when we get back from our trip.
Linda
Thanks Linda and Joy for th bday wishes. Vegas was a blast.
Regarding how I'm going to have my top quilting: Lisa'a specialty is lots of feathers/swirls, and echoing around applique. If you look at this link, click on the "view more images" to see some of her feathers. I love them! I asked her to fill every possible space that way.

Linda, 8 kids on a vacation - brave woman! Blast is right LOL. Have a great time.
Congrats on your cataract surgery. I've had many people say the same thing. Your quilt in progress probably looks even prettier now!
