Well, it may not look like it, but I've been busy quilting. Teri has given me such a bad time about being ahead on the months, that I'm trying (my best) to slow down. So here is a progress report. I'm done through month 4, have all piecing done for all months. Here is where I am for the remaining appliqué. Pretty, huh? Yup, lots of bias stems, freezer paper cut and applied, but not sewn. Lot's of hand work to go!
Since I had to slow down on Quilt with Us (peer pressure), I needed something to do. Judy and I shop hopped last week and I found a cool pattern with a beautiful display sample in the shop. I bought the pattern and raced home to make it. Finished the top last night. Note, I didn't have to buy a single piece of fabric....all from my sizable stash. And I barely put a dent in my asian stash. Oh well. Not everyone likes this asymmetrical style, but I love it. My mom looked at it and said it looked wonky (or some such term).

Karen,
You are sooooo ahead! I've been skipping around so I'm not sure where I am. I'm using starch to turn under my appliqué but my mini iron isn't getting hot enough so it's slowing me down (lucky for you). I'll have more pictures next week. BTW, I like your "wonky" quilt a lot. I can't believe you pieced it in one night!

I'm glad that you are slowing down on the block of the month, so that you stay with the rest of us. I love your Asian quilt. Where can I get the pattern? What is the name of the pattern and Who makes it? I think it would look good in the multi color hand dyed fabric that I don't want to cut up. It looks like a fast and easy quilt.
I can't wait to see you and Judy at the Long Beach Quilt show.
I like the unusual pattern of the Asian quilt and really like the color combination and arrangement you chose. I would also like to know about the pattern.
I don't have a lot to do to finish my granddaughter's quilt, so have managed to work on the monthly blocks too. I have done three of the applique blocks for month four and will soon post my pictures. I am doing hand applique and have always been a little afraid of it, but find that I love doing it. You have all inspired me to try something I had avoided.

Love your wonky quilt. I've made it several times with batiks. It must be Debbie Bowles' "BQ". The pattern gives different size blocks, so you can make a really big quilt or a lap size.
Gab is right, the pattern for my asian quilt is BQ from mapleislandquilts.com, and yes, it was really fast and easy. Thanks for all the compliments! Diana, don't buy the pattern, I'll bring you mine when we see you..I don't need to make it again.
Is anyone else going to the Long Beach Quilt Festival in July? It would be great fun to meet everyone. Judy and I will be there, and Diana lives nearby.
That asian quilt is not wonky! It is a work of art. I love the colors, the off-kilter feel...everything about it is tempting, even to a non-quilter like me!
