Happy Days, Busy Days

Here we are to the mid point of March and I am finally posting to show the picture of my Month 3 blocks. They went pretty easily, but did take a lot more time than Month 1 and Month 2.

I have the other quilt top ready to quilt for our 3 year old granddaughter's late April birthday. We are going to California Tuesday to spend a week with our little 2 1/2 year old twin granddaughters (and their parents, too). When we get back, we have guests coming for our 5 year old granddaughter's birthday party and they will stay with us. So it will be April before I get to the quilting. I should still be able to get it finished. The pillow sham is finished, and the valance won't take long. I got so far behind when I was ill, and it seems to take forever to get caught up again.

The quilt top I just finished also has applique on it. In the directions for the quilt, it suggested using pinking shears to trim the applique fabric. I did that, and it makes the turning so much easier to keep even. You don't have to clip the outer curves. I do give a little clip to the inside curves if they are deep. I thought that hint might help some others with the Quilt Along Quilt.
Everybody's blocks are looking wonderful and it is inspiring to see the difference in the color combinations. I like them all.

You have been busy. Where in California are you going? I live in Oceanside California. I would love to see the quilt you are working on for your
granddaughter's birthday. I'll have to try using pinking shears cutting out my applique. Your blocks look great.

Diana,
We are going to San Jose.

I will post a picture of Hannah's quilt when I get it quilted. It has been a fun one. The applique flowers are formed from four hearts put together at the points, then a yellow center over that. I collected the 1930's reproduction charms at the quilt show in Houston for the flowers.

Thanks.
Linda

I love the pinking shear idea! I'll try it on the next months applique. Your blocks look fabulous! I love your color placement choices.

Great job on your blocks! I have four granddaughters, so I can relate to making quilts for little girls - it's so much fun!
